Each week we will provide the passage for the upcoming Sunday’s service. We invite you to read, reflect, and respond. Read the passage for context and content. Reflect on what the passage is saying. How does your life line up with God’s Word? Respond in worship, praise and prayer. It is our prayer that this tool will help us grow as a body, as a family, and as individuals as we allow His Word to saturate our homes and our lives.

READ: 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

REFLECT:

In 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 we will continue our journey on the Rapture where Paul describes out Lord’s return. “The Lord Himself shall descend….” There will be no messenger, Jesus Christ Himself is coming! Are you living today as if Jesus is coming back for you? There are also three sounds associated with His coming. We are told there will be a shout, the voice of the archangel, and the trumpet of God. The bottom line is Jesus is going to make some noise when He returns. I was thinking about how oftentimes I get so distracted by the “noise” this world makes. It is always screaming for my attention and there are times I succumb to its pressure. After reading this passage, there is no need to get distracted here because we are going to be extracted when Jesus returns.

Do you have problems? So do I, but we are living for the One who is going to make a lot of noise at His Reentry and Return and the Bible says we will be “caught up” to meet the Lord in the air and take our Heavenly flight! If you knew Jesus was coming back today how would you live differently? I am going to prepare my sermon for Sunday but if we get surprised with some “noise” before then, that will be even better!

See you Sunday! (Lord Willing) – Freeman

RESPOND:

When is Jesus coming? No one knows the day or the hour, only God Himself knows. However, we do know that Jesus is coming again, and that we need to encourage to all around us. Yes, “The King”, Jesus Himself is coming…for you and for me. May we live our lives as though it could be today. May we lift up the name of Jesus in praise and worship in all that we do. Are you ready to meet Jesus face to face?

See you Sunday!

- Rocky

The end of this month brings an exciting opportunity to interact with real missionaries and their families from all over the world! Our Association and its churches have planned some incredible activities for us to mingle with and minister to these very special people. Check out the calendar below and make your plans to “simplyLOVE” these who devote their lives to Christ by serving the lost across the aisle, across the street, and around the world.

Friday, March 23rd, 6:00 pm at Mt Lebanon Baptist Church, there will be a meal and fellowship time for pastors of churches within the Association, all OMC Coordinators, and missionaries. This meal time will serve as a “meet and greet”, as well as an opportunity for some logistical planning.

Saturday, March 24th, 1:00-4:00 pm, at First Baptist Church of Alcoa in the Family Life Center, there will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for your kids (and yourselves) to travel around the world without ever leaving Blount County! Make sure you plan to attend this FAMILY MISSIONS FUNFEST. Attendees will receive a “Passport” that they will carry with them as they go “around the world” to booths with missionaries from all around the globe share their stories, prayer requests, and local artifacts. You will get your passport stamped, and will also have a chance to hear “spotlights” from individual missionaries at various times throughout the day. There will be popcorn, inflatables, games and more. This will be an awesome time for you and your family to hear first-hand what it is like to “live missions.” You will NOT want to miss it!

Saturday, March 24th, 6:00-9:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Maryville, there will be “A Missions House for the Nations.” For all youth and college students, the first ever, “Missions House” will be an awesome missions experience that is sure to change the hearts and lives of those involved. There will be many scenarios of social injustice that take place in the ministries of our invited missionaries that will last around 20 minutes each. Come prepared to help out financially. Scenarios may include secret church, Christian persecution, childhood slavery, refugee wars, drug cartels, poverty, inner-city, and much more.

Sunday morning and evening, Church bodies all throughout the association will have a chance to hear in detail from selected missionaries and how their lives are enriched and blessed through service to the Lord and ministry to the lost of the world. This will be exciting times of information and inspiration as they share their hearts for Jesus with us.

Join us June 4th through June 8th from 9:00 am until 12:30 pm each day for Vacation Bible School! This year we are soaring high with God’s Word. Come along with us as we take a nose-dive into scripture with the kids. We have a great time singing new songs in the opening time! We have Rotation Stations that are always so much fun – from Bible Adventures, to Crafts, to Games, to Video Sets, to Snacks, the kids are always on the go and the Word is always a part of every activity we do. Don’t wait: register online TODAY for this wonderful time we share with your kids each year!

We also always need volunteers to help with many different areas, such as crew leaders, games, snacks, and more. If you are interested in helping out, please contact Carol Britton by email here (carolbrittonfbalcoaorg) or by phone at 982-2661.
