  FBA MINISTRIES

CHILDREN'S MINISTRIES
Children are precious at First Baptist Alcoa. Taking to heart Jesus' own love for children, FBA seeks to provide a comprehensive, caring ministry to preschoolers, children, and their parents. We consider it an honor and a privilege to assist parents in the growth of their child and to lay a strong Biblical foundation that will be able to grow and mature.

Our Children's Ministry has as its theme, Smoky Mountain RANGERS, which exists to promote the vision and missionary purpose of the Children's Ministry of First Baptist Alcoa. Join us and be part of the Smoky Mountain Rangers.
Other divisions of our Children's Ministry are:

STUDENT MINISTRY
Training and equipping students to know, stand for, and share the Truth is the awesome task of our Student Ministry. Recognizing the special challenges facing students, our Student Ministry and Zone 27 (midweek student worship service) provides a cutting edge ministry which appeals to them where they are without compromising the truth of the Gospel. We provide a wide range of programs and activities to help students grow in their faith. In order to keep students in touch with God, we've developed "Family Groups," small group settings which can give your student the individual attention he or she deserves.

WOMEN'S MINISTRIES
FBA's Women's Ministries offers a variety of ways for women to connect and develop friendships, grow closer to God, and have the opportunity to share their gifts and talents. A wide variety of programs such as specialized studies and classes, retreats, conferences, and ministry opportunities are available for all adult women, both married and single.

Check with the church office or our Calendar of Activities for dates that these events are offered.

Another important segment of our Women's Ministries is Women on Mission, an arm of the Southern Baptist Convention's WMU. Ladies in this group learn about supporting and doing missions, seeking to fulfill the Great Commission to go into all the world with the Gospel. Women on Mission meets the third Tuesday of each month at 10:00 for a multi-focus look at Southern Baptist Missions, how it impacts our local church and congregation, and participates in various missions programs in our local community.

MUSIC MINISTRY
The Music Ministry of First Baptist Alcoa exists to proclaim the message of Christ through music and ministry; to lead in worship by committing ourselves, both individually and collectively, to honor our Savior as His instruments of praise; and to live our personal lives responsibly unto Christ. We seek to fulfill this mission through our Worship Choir, Praise Band, and Solo and Ensemble Ministries. Worship services at First Baptist Alcoa are comprised of several musical styles, offering worshipers a blend of traditional and contemporary praise and worship.

You're invited to join one or more of these groups. Opportunities abound for soloists, both instrumentally and vocally, as well as those interested in ensembles. Please talk to anyone in one of these groups or see our Minister of Music when you visit with us at First Baptist Alcoa.

BIBLE STUDY
First Baptist Alcoa wants to help you find the Small church within the Big church. Small church is Bible Study and we have a Bible Study class just for you. Bible Study at FBA consists of age-graded small groups from the cradle to the most mature. It is through these smaller groups of people that relationships with others can be developed while at the same time experiencing practical Bible teaching.

These smaller groups are the heartbeat of FBA and enable people to grow in their spiritual walk with Christ. These smaller connection groups are the next step in each person's spiritual development.

It's easy to choose a class just for you. If at first you don't find one you enjoy, please keep trying.

SINGLES MINISTRY
Singles are one of the fastest growing segments of our society. FBA provides programs and activities designed to meet their diverse and distinctive needs through Bible fellowship classes, retreats, and fellowship-oriented events. The Sunday School is structured to be both dynamic and relevant to the needs of singles.

On Thursday nights, we offer a Bible study and fellowship time called BLAST -- BLount Area Singles Talk, a group made up of singles from various area churches who meet for food, fellowship, Bible study and fun on a weekly basis.

We meet each week on Thursday night from 6:30 'til 8:30 at 1427 Boyle Street.

Free meal at 6:30

  • Free child care on site
  • Interdenominational
Contact us at any time ... we want to get to know you and assist you in any way possible.

SENIOR ADULT MINISTRY
Our senior adults minister to each other not only through the Sunday School, but also through a twice-monthly meeting of the "Believers," our ministry group just for these folks.

They meet twice a month on the first and third Thursdays for informational programs, food, fellowship and fun. The first Thursday is usually a meeting here at FBA at 11:00 a.m. with a special guest, followed by a potluck lunch at noon.

The third Thursday can be anything at all! Activities have included picking apples at an orchard in Cosby, lunch at the Dinner Bell Restaurant in Lenoir City, a Knoxville riverboat trip -- just about anything at all. Come on and join us ... you'll have the time of your life!

RECREATION MINISTRY
First Baptist Alcoa has a Family Life Center (FLC) that is used throughout the year for many various sports and teams. Each year, opportunities exist to participate on basketball teams for men, middle schoolers, and high schoolers. There is also a volleyball team later in the year. Opportunities to play softball are also provided from time to time. During the regular basketball season, FBA also hosts its own basketball league and tournament with teams from among several area churches. Positions are open to both boys and girls.

Through all these activities, everyone, both young and old alike, has a good time, but even more important is the fact that they learn to cooperate as a group and learn the importance of teamwork from a Christian perspective. Younger Christians in particular learn what it means to "live their faith" daily and to present a positive Christian witness to those people with whom they come in contact in everyday life.

MEDIA MINISTRY
The Media Ministry of First Baptist Alcoa exists to help spread the Gospel outside our church walls to those who might not normally attend a regular worship service. For these individuals, and others who might be physically unable to venture outside their homes, this becomes "their church" on a week-to-week basis. Each week, through our church and the media volunteers, God touches literally hundreds of people through this ministry.Program times on Blount County cable channel 19 are:

  • Sunday: 10:15 a.m. (live)
  • Sunday: 4:00 p.m. (Sunday a.m. replay)
